A very brief look at the Andes out a window
Here's my fleeting look at Chile, flying into Santiago for a 5 hour transit.
I'm grateful for the 5 hours because it's very confusing whether my bags have been checked through or I need to collect them. So I've spent some of those hours wandering around taking a poll in the airport, prepared to backtrack if I need to go find my bags somewhere.
There seems to be consensus that they have been checked through. This is at odds with what the staff on the incoming flight said, so we'll see at the other end who wins in Qantas against Santiago airport (which includes some Qantas people)...
Of course I was hoping to firmly establish all this when I checked in but these days its all kiosks and no humans so I didnt get the chance to ask.
I'll also see if I can read my tracker in my bag once I get on the plane but it will be iffy whether I have any signal, and if I do whether it will be clear if it's on the plane or in the airport.
See you sooooon, Sam.
